My Interview With Actress Ayla Kell

I had the pleasure of interviewing actress Ayla Kell from ABC Family's hit tv show, 'Make It Or Break It' this week. Ayla plays the character Payson Keeler, who after suffering a tragic accident that leaves her with a broken back Payson's told she'll never do gymnastics again. After undergoing a very risky surgery Payson's back is healed and she rallies her team and makes everyone believe in miracles.

Alyssa: Is your style similar to Payson Keeler? Are you influenced by your character's fashion on the show at all?

Ayla: Payson wears a lot of jeans and tshirts. It's a casual fresh elegance about her. I generally prefer to wear skirts more, but I do love the idea of not-trying-cute. Something about it looking like you just threw it together and creating the idea that you look that put together everyday...even if you lived in your sweatpants the day before.

Alyssa: Because you spend your life in the public eye, you are constantly under scrutiny: how would you advise other women to deal with judgement of others?

Ayla: Absolutely. It's a hard row whenever you have to deal with judgement from anybody, whether it's in the work place or your social life- girls can be vicious. Whenever I hear anything like that, I always try to focus on something about myself that I do like. Like you can say my legs are too big (which it's just muscle), I just think about how much I work on my waistline and how I feel confident when I put a belt on. Forget what other people have to say, we all have our problems. Healthy is happy- therefore I'm happy!

A: What's your ultimate must have in fashion?

Ayla: My must have fashion item is a good pencil skirt. It's something you can dress up or down depending how your feeling. A band shirt and a blazer, or a nice blouse and a leather jacket, or even a flannel and a sweater... so multi functional.
A: Where do you usually shop?

Ayla: I love to shop vintage and flea markets then invest in taking them to a seamstress and get them to fit like a brand new piece. It's nice to have something new to mix and match with your vintage pieces. I do love to shop at Ruche and ModCloth onilne, and finding small local boutiques to buy interesting stuff.

A: What are some of your beauty must haves?

Ayla: I love to have accessories for my hair to match in my lip color or my shoe color. I'm big on a natural made up look. Using a natural pinky blush, with a nude to brown/slight purple tinted shadow (helps bring the green out in my eyes), a light brown eyeliner, and natural looking mascara and I'm done. Not too much fuss, not too made up, but still done.

A: Any fashion faux pas from your past that you'd like to share with my readers?

Ayla: I've always dressed kinda out there with my love for vintage...that's more a question for my mom than me. She probably has a hit list of my sweaters and dresses that went "missing" through out the years. Who does she think she is? Calling my clothes "grandma muu muus". But I've gotten better...

A: Any celebrities style you admire or are inspired by?

Ayla: I adore Michelle William's style. Freida Pinto also had a wonderful unique style. I just like when it looks like they are being true to themselves and wearing something that looks refined while still having an element of surprise.

A: Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for my blog Le Petit Monde Ayla!

The first bracelet in the video is by Picks for Peace, a great company founded in 2008 by Mariel and Sofia Mizrahi. They started the company after their father a musician and guitar player, passed away from cancer. He provided them with the idea that we all have choices and ultimately we are all striving for peace within ourselves and the world around us. Each pick represents something positive in life and supports individual meaning. A portion of the proceeds go to The Head and Neck Cancer Alliance.

The skull ring and bracelet are by one of my favorite jewelry designers, Iwona Ludyga.

KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr : Beauty Review

I had the opportunity to try and review two great beauty products by KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr, the 'Clay Purifying Mask' and the 'Balancing Rose Mist'.

(Balancing Rose Mist, AUD 39.95 | Clay Purifying Mask, AUD 49.95)

First before I give my initial thoughts on the two products I want to share the brands mission which is to inspire people globally to nurture their bodies, embrace their unique beauty and understand the benefits of using organic skincare. KORA Organics skincare range was developed by the model Miranda Kerr and a chemist about three years ago. The first step was bringing together the ingredients that Miranda personally used and knew would deliver results. Noni, rosehip oil, green tea, and chamomile ingredients are all incorporated into the skincare line to nourish, replenish and re-hydrate the skin.

I have combination/oily skin and want my complexion to look its best, especially since I'm in front of photos and videos in front of you guys! So I was definitely excited to try the clay purifying mask. It claims to gently detox, purify and refine the texture of the skin, and be infused with Noni Extract and Lavender to help restore a healthier looking complexion. I applied it three nights a week for a week and loved it! From all of the masks I've used in recent years this has to be the most gentle. Very calming and moisturizing, it doesn't strip the skin but rather make it dewy and glow.
The balancing rose mist is suitable for all skin types with the added benefit of enriching and nourishing the skin. I applied it in the morning before my moisturizer and it left my skin refreshed and calm. The scent was rather strong, but it goes away quickly. I'm glad I tried KORA Organics, I'm a new fan!

Music Festival Love Part Deux

Festival Love #2

Music Festival season has started and the next one to come up is Coachella in California. The looks at music festivals make just as much of a statement as the ones from regular life and the red carpet. With each one there is a different vibe to how the attendees dress. One thing that all of these have in common is that denim is sure to be spotted. From the style of Alexa Chung, Alessandra Ambrosio, Diane Kruger, Vanessa Hudgens, and Agyness Dyen last year I will help you pack for Coachella to Bonnaroo in Tennessee and where to purchase the similar styles for less!

(Bloggers: Louise Lemans, Erica Warren, Michelle Henderson, Morgan Georgie & Carrie Keifer, Jeanee Duval, Erin Barnes, Meggy, White Table Style, & DJ Steve Thorell)

I was invited to attend the Halls It's A Girl's Thing Event last Thursday night and had a blast! It was fun getting to meet some KC area bloggers and view beautiful clothing & accessories in the process. As you can see I had my eye on Rebecca Minkoff's gorgeous bags. After the event Brianne and I headed over to Harry T's Bar for some food.
